Employee injured in fall through manlift hole

On March 21, 2002, Employee #1 fell into a manlift opening while attempting to board the manlift. A coworker grabbed him with both hands, but then removed one hand to activate the emergency stop. Employee #1 slipped from the coworker's grip and fell approximately 30 ft. He was hospitalized with a head laceration. It is unknown if Employee #1 lost consciousness prior to approaching the manlift, or if he misjudged the location of the manlift step.
