Employee injured when struck by an unknown object

On December 28, 2001, Employee #1, a mechanical electrical technician, had been assigned to conduct maintenance in the MPC building, which included repair of a ground cable on Stripper Line Number 1 and preventative maintenance on Stripper Line Number 2. Employee #1 was found lying on his back on the floor by the north end of the parked automated guided vehicles. This area was not part of his assigned work area for that shift. Employee #1 works on C shift, and all equipment is shut down and parked during this maintenance shift. Employee #1 suffered a closed head injury and contusion of head. Examination by doctors at the emergency room indicated that the injury was not accidental but due to an assault. Employee #1 was hospitalized with contusions.
