Investigation Summary
A group of employees were installing a water sprinkling system for a golf course expansion. Employee #1 was operating a trenching machine to install a lateral water line, 2 ft to 3 ft in depth. Employee #1 dismounted the machinery and left it running while he was checking the clearance of the trencher in relationship to the wiring of the previously laid 6-in. line so he wouldn't snag it. Employee #1 got too close to trencher and it caught his boot, pants, and leg and pulled him into the trencher. Employee #1 suffered the partial amputation of his right leg. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
