Employee Using a Pop-off Saw Amputates Fingers

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on May 8, 2001, and employee was operating a pop-off saw manufactured by High Point Tools Corporation. The employee normally operated this equipment daily to dimensional cutting 2 by 4 stock to specific lengths. The employee placed his hand on top of the 2 by 4 material and activated the saw; the hood guard secured the employee's hand between the hood guard and the wood, amputating the fingers on his right hand. He was hospitalized for his injuries.
