Employee Killed after being Struck by Tree Limb

At approximately 12:20 p.m. on February 19, 2001, Employee #1, a tree servicing company employee, was stuck by a falling limb. A coworker, the owner of the company, climbed a large tree to remove a large limb. The coworker climbed approximately 100 ft; secured the limb with a large rope; and proceeded to cut the limb. Once the limb was cut the ground crew started to lower the limb using the rope the coworker used to secure it. Employee #1 was next to the chipper and for unknown reasons moved to a spot underneath the hanging limb. The limb slipped out of the rope and struck Employee #1. Employee #1 was killed.
