Laborer injures knee when he sinks into mud

On May 24, 2001, a laborer was repairing a fence that had fallen due to water-logged soil from recent rains. After several attempts to lift the fence, without success, the employee stepped over the downed fence in an attempt to lift it from the other side. As he exerted force to lift it, he sank into the mud approximately up to his waist. Two other employees were able to fee one leg, but when it began to rain again, EMS was called for assistance. Upon arrival the employee was freed from the mud, and treated on-site for a strained right knee.
