Employees killed in trench cave in

Employee #1, a homeowner hired a local ready mix company to dig a trench parallel to his home so that he could install additional drainage. Employee #2 of the ready mix company and Employee #1 were buried in a 12 ft deep trench when a large section of the sidewall collapsed while the two were attempting to attach plastic sheeting to the sidewalls of the trench. The trench was approximately 80 ft in length and 30 inches in width with near vertical walls. Employee #1 and Employee #2 died.
