Employees Dies When Falling From An Excavation Site

Employee #1 died after suffering from blunt force trauma and bone fractures when he fell approximately 30 feet at an excavation site. The site involved the blasting of a rock hillside in preparation for the construction of a supermarket. Witnesses observed Employee #1 walking on a path approximately 300 feet in length and eight to ten feet in width. Employee #1 stopped in the middle of the path, when the ground below lost its structural integrity. He died when he fell approximately 30 feet to the ground. A boulder of undetermined weight followed Employee #1 to the ground and landed on top of him.
