Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was operating a Powermatic 10-inch table saw while cutting 0.75-inch stock. Employee 1 was using a push-stick to guide the lumber as the guard had been raised above the saw blade. Employee #1's left hand came too close to the blade and rotational force pulled his hand into the blade, amputating the left thumb at the first joint. Employee #1 was transported to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland where he was hospitalized.
