Investigation Nr: 200711109
Event: 07/17/2000
Employee killed in fall into wood chipper/grinder

At approximately 1:15 p.m. on July 17, 2000, a fire broke out in a wood grinder. Employee #1 grabbed a fire hose and attempted to extinguish the blaze from a location above the grinder. At the same time, a coworker began to move the grinder away from the wood pile. As it was being moved, the cutting blades began to rotate, catching Employee #1, who had stepped into the top of the grinder. He fell into the wood chipper and was killed.
