Employee killed when bridge collapses

Employee #1, the owner of Eddy Harris, LLC, was standing on a bridge while directing a backhoe operator who was maneuvering a hydraulic hammer into position. They had successfully loosened the concrete structure around each bridge pier except the last one, and now Employee #1 was directing the backhoe operator as to how and where to strike the concrete pier with the hammer. The operator was starting to hit the concrete around the last pier when the bridge collapsed. Employee #1 fell 15 ft and was killed.
