Employee's four fingers amputated in power press

At approximately 8:05 p.m. on December 14, 2000, Employee #1 was preparing to remove a 0.062-in.- thick punched part from a 100-ton Niagara full revolution power press. While Employee #1 had his right hand within the point of operation, the press cycled and the ram came down. The four fingers on Employee's #1's right hand were amputated. Employee #1 was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital and was hospitalized.
