Investigation Summary

A parks and recreation employee was traveling in the southbound direction on a city street in his employer's vehicle. Upon entering an intersection that was controlled by a traffic light the employee's vehicle was struck by a privately owned vehicle that was traveling westbound thru a red traffic light. The impact caused the employee's vehicle to veer in a southwestwardly direction and strike the corner of a building. The employee died in route to the hospital. According to the investigating police officer, independent witnesses stated that the employee had the green traffic signal light and that when the employee's vehicle entered into the intersection, the driver of the privately owned vehicle disregarded the red traffic signal, drove into the intersection, and collided with the employee's vehicle.
