At approximately 9:00 a.m. on April 1, 1997, Employees #1 through #3, of J. D. Abrams, Inc., were painting stripes on an access road at an exit ramp to a downtown avenue. They were struck by a motor vehicle; Employee #3 was killed and Employees #1 and #2 were hospitalized overnight.
