Employee Is Killed When Pinned Between Trailers of Truck

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on October 28, 2005, Employee #1 stopped his vehicle, which was a 1979 International Tractor with a set of double bottom dump trailers, at the La Puente Landfill. The vehicle was stopped on a slight incline. At this time, for some reason, Employee #1 did not set the brakes and exited his vehicle. He went behind the vehicle and stood between the trailers. The vehicle rolled backwards and caused the second trailer to jacknife, pinning Employee #1 between the drawbar and the right rear of the first trailer. Employee #1 was transported to Greater El Monte Hospital in El Monte, CA, where he was pronounced dead.
