Investigation Summary
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on July 29, 2003, Employee #1, weighing 225 pounds, was using a Davidson household 6 ft step ladder, Type II, with a load capacity of 299 pounds. He was replacing fluorescent light bulbs under a canopy at the front of the store with a coworker. He replaced approximately 20 bulbs while standing on the third step and was descending the ladder. He either lost his balance or missed a step and fell backwards with the ladder. He was not carrying anything and landed on his right hip fracturing it. Employee #1 was hospitalized and his hip was replaced.
