Employee injured in trench collapse

Employee #1 was the backhoe operator in a three man trenching operation. They were laying sewer pipe into lateral trenches. Employee #1 had gotten down into the lateral trench in order to adjust the position of the pipe prior to backfilling the trench, when the trench collapsed. Employee #1 suffered contusions but was not hospitalized.
