Investigation Summary
At approximately 2:00 p.m. on July 31, 2010, Employee #1 was trimming a tree at a residential home. He was approximately 20 ft high, inside a large hedge, and harnessed to its branches. He was using an 8 ft pruning rod. He was holding the pruning rod, and it contacted the live wires running through the hedges. He was electrocuted. He yelled and his coworkers saw him hanging over the wire face down. They lowered him, and he was unconscious. Employee #1 was transported to local hospital and was pronounced dead at 2:40 p.m. It was later determined that the employee was too high up in the tree.
