Employee Is Injured in Fall from Fixed Ladder

At 10:00 a.m. on November 11, 2009, Employee #1, a kitchen helper with Jeff's Gourmet, was climbing a fixed ladder outside the building to clean the exhaustion system on the roof. He had been performing this task weekly for five years. He was carrying a small bucket with a towel and trash bag in it. When Employee #1 reached the top rung of the ladder, he lost his footing and fell 16 ft 5 in. He was hospitalized for fractures of his heel and T-12 vertebra.
