Employee Fractures Hip in Fall Off Ladder

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on November 4, 2009, Employee #1, a janitor, was on a 10-ft ladder, replacing a light bulb that was located 10 feet above the ground floor landing. The ladder tipped over, causing him to fall 8 feet, breaking his left hip. He was taken to California Hospital and was hospitalized for 30 days. It was determined that Employee #1 had not received adequate training on ladder safety.
