Event: 10/06/2003
Employee's hand contacts saw blade and amputates finger tip

At approximately 12:55 p.m. on October 6, 2003, an employee was trimming a series of armoire doors in a furniture manufacturing plant. The employee was standing on the right side of a Rockwell Unisaw, Model Number 14-761, Serial Number KZ8748, in the operator's position. He reached across the saw and behind the guard to remove the armoire door from the jig when his right hand made contact with the 12-inch saw blade. As a result, he amputated a portion of the first knuckle of his right index finger, but was not hospitalized.
