Employee injured when arm fractured by lift gate on trailer

At 10:00 a.m. on October 10, 2002, Employee #1, a truck driver employed by the Palm Springs Baking Company of Palm Springs, California, suffered a crushing fracture to his left arm, a broken ulna and tendon and nerve damage. Employee #1 was lowering a mechanical lift gate on a rented trailer when his left arm was caught between the lift gate chain and the floor of the lift at the company's bakery yard in Palm Springs. Employee #1 was taken to the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, California, for emergency medical care. He was admitted for surgery and hospitalized for two days.
