Employee Had Severe Lacerations On Hand Using A Hand Saw

At approximately 2:25 p.m. on November 20, 2001, Employee #1, a pest control technician employed by A Cut Above Termite & Pest Control, suffered a severe laceration to his left hand. Employee #1 was using a portable circular saw to cut a 2-inch by 4-inch board. He was holding the piece of wood with his left hand, while pushing the saw with his right hand. The saw blade struck a nail, bound up and kicked back landing on his left hand between his thumb and index finger. Employee #1 was air lifted to the Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he was admitted and hospitalized for 7 days for treatments on his left hand.
