Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 201142817
Event: 06/10/2002
Employee fractures vertebrae when struck By falling wall

On June 10, 2002, Employee #1, a carpenter at a new residential construction site in Yorba Linda, CA, was in the middle of four coworkers as they manually raised an 18-ft-tall framed wall. When the bottom of the wall began to come up, the coworkers let it go. The wall fell on Employee #1, who suffered a compression fracture to three vertebrae. He was transported to the hospital, where he was treated for one week. The crew was raising the wall manually because a forklift was not readily available.
