Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 300853272
Event: 11/30/2001
Employees hand fractured when caught by polishing wheel

On November 30, 2001, Employee #1, an automotive wheel polisher, was attempting to cut a piece of carpet by abrading it on the polishing wheel, covered with sanding paper so he could pull it apart into small pieces. He was going to place the small pieces on the shelf located directly above the polishing wheel as an oil and dust guard to prevent lubricant and dust from flying into his face while polishing wheels. The carpet was caught by the wheel and it pulled his hand in breaking his left wrist. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
