Employee Injures Foot When Struck by Jackhammer Blade

On December 16, 2005, Employee #1 was operating a jackhammer to break-up concrete pavement. A malfunction occurred and the jackhammer blade struck Employee #1's foot. Employee #1 was hospitalized and treated for a fractured foot. The accident investigation revealed that the employer failed to provide their employees with appropriate foot protection.
