Investigation Summary
Employee #1 and several coworkers were repairing a wooden deck behind a two-story, single family residence. Several of the deck's floor planks had been previously removed by the owner and the joists were exposed. Employee #1 fell approximately 9 feet when a rotted joist he was standing on broke. He suffered compression fractures to his vertebra and was hospitalized for 20 days.
