Employee Is Injured in Fall from Ladder

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on February 13, 2006, Employee #1, a tree trimmer, was performing tree trimming operations at a client's workplace. As he was standing on an extension ladder that measured approximately 17-feet high, which was resting on a tree that he was trimming with a saw, the branch he was cutting with fell towards the ladder and struck the rails of the ladder. Employee #1 lost his balance and fell from the ladder to the ground. The ladder remained upright throughout the incident. Employee #1 was taken to Northridge Hospital, where he was hospitalized and underwent surgery.
