Employee Amputates Finger When Caught in Conveyor

At approximately 5:00 p.m. on February 15, 2006, Employee #1 was performing her daily duties as a checker, which includes inspection of the product for the specific number as well as for integrity. Employee #1 was trying to retrieve a jammed product cap from conveyor when her hand was caught between an unguarded head pulley and the running conveyor belt. Employee #1 sustained an amputation to her right middle finger to the first knuckle with open fracture. Employee #1 was treated for her injuries but was released the same day after reconstruction surgery.
