Employee Dies from Injuries Sustained When Dragged by Truck

At approximately 12:20 p.m. on September 22, 2005, Employee #1 was flushing debris from an underground pipe with the water washer jet-vacuum unit, which was powered by the engine of a pump truck. The pump truck was equipped with the operating console located at the front of the pump truck adjacent to the front bumper and the hose assembly. When Employee #1 throttled the engine, the truck moved forward, striking the employee, and dragged him approximately 104 feet along the roadway. He sustained injuries to his legs, torso, and head, and was transported to Simi Valley Adventist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
