Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 201117769
Event: 08/30/2004
Movie and TV prop wall falls on employee fracturing his leg

At approximately 7:15 a.m. on August 30, 2004, an employee worked for a company which stored and transported sets, props, set dressing, vehicles, wardrobe, and equipment for the motion picture and television industry. It was located in Saugus, CA. The employee was a temporary employee leased from a staffing resources company. The facility consisted of 9 warehouse buildings totaling 600,000 sq. ft. The employee, a temporary warehouseman, worked in building number 12, bay 12E14 and moved scenery and sets. The employee and two coworkers were moving a front garage wall (approximately 500 lbs) to another area of the warehouse. As the employees were preparing to lift up the wall to place it on a dolly, the wall tipped over and fell on the temporary employee. He was hospitalized at Henry Mayo Hospital, and required surgery for a left femur fracture
