Investigation Summary
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on May 16, 2001, Employee #1 was operating a diesel tractor spraying grape vines. The tractor stopped and he got off to clear air out of the fuel line. Then while standing on the ground in the front of the left back wheel he attempted to start the tractor. The tractor was in gear and when it started ran long enough for the rear wheel to run on top of him. There are warning signs on the tractor but they are in English and Employee #1 can not read English. Employee #1 was hospitalized with a fractured leg.
