Employee Fractures Wrist in Fall from Scaffold

At approximately 3:15 p.m. on August 5, 2002, Employee #1 was at the site of Padilla Construction for the building of a new two-story, single-family residence. She was on the second level of a scaffold, nailing in wire lath when she fell through a 14 in. wide gap between the scaffold platform and the building. Employee #1 fell approximately 9 ft and suffered two fractured ribs, a bruised spleen, and a fractured wrist. She was hospitalized and underwent surgical placement of a metal pin to repair her wrist.
