Investigation Summary
At approximately 12 noon on June 27, 2003, Employee #1 and a coworker, of Snyder Roofing and Sheet Metal, Inc., were repairing a roof at the Nicholson Garden Project housing complex in Los Angeles, CA. They were laying and nailing plastic sheeting on the high roof of building #809-814 when they ran out of plastic. Employee #1 began descending a ladder to retrieve more from a lower roof when the ladder moved. She and the ladder fell 9 ft to the lower roof. Employee #1 sustained a contusion to her left hip and a sprained left foot and ankle. She was taken to Martin Luther King Hospital for emergency treatment. The ladder that Employee #1 was using was not secured. She had been an apprentice with the company since April 23, 2003.
