Investigation Summary
At about 1:30 p.m. on September 11, 2001, Employee #1, a construction laborer, left his assigned task. Later, he was found near another building requesting assistance. Employee #1 stated that he fell into a hole approximately 25 feet deep within this other building. After about 10 minutes, he climbed out using a ladder and sought help outside. Employee #1 was transported to USC Medical Center where he was hospitalized with eight broken ribs.
