Investigation Nr: 300375318
Event: 10/07/1999
Employee middle finger amputated, crushed little finger

Employee #1 was using a socket wrench and a torque multiplier to remove bolts from a cement breaker. The breaker was sitting on two saw horses and was secured with a chain. When Employee #1 applied pressure to the socket, the weight of the breaker shifted causing the saw horses to move. The tip of the breaker fell to the floor. It is unknown exactly which part of the breaker or socket amputated the middle finger and crushed the ring and little finger of the left hand.
