Employee killed in fall from ladder into elevator pit

Employee #1, an apprentice ironworker, finished welding a clip to a 4 by 4 steel column and then walked across the beam to a ladder. He was descending the ladder when he slipped and fell between 12 and 15 ft into the elevator pit. Employee #1 was killed.
