ELECTRIC SHOCK - GROUND ROD CONTACT WITH UNDERGROUND LINE

AN EMPLOYEE WAS DRIVING A GROUND ROD FOR A CABLE TELEVISION CABLE INSTALLATION INTO THE EARTH. THE ROD STRUCK AN UNDERGROUND POWER LINE 1 FOOT BELOW GROUND LEVEL, AND THE EMPLOYEE RECEIVED AN ELECTRIC SHOCK AS A RESULT. ALTHOUGH THE EMPLOYEE WAS NOT HOSPITALIZED FOR THIS INJURY, HE COMPLAINED OF TIGHTNESS IN HIS HAND AND ARM AND IN THE SHOULDER AND CHEST AREAS OF HIS BODY.
