EMPLOYEE STRUCK ON HEAD BY DROPPED ROLL OF PLASTIC

EMPLOYEE #1 WAS STRUCK ON THE TOP OF THE HEAD BY A 17 POUND ROLL OF PLASTIC WHEN HE WALKED OUT FROM UNDER A BALCONY. THE BALCONY WAS 50 FEET LONG BY 25 FEET WIDE AND ENCLOSED BY A 4 FOOT HIGH RAILING. THE ROLL OF PLASTIC WAS 14 INCHES LONG AND 8 INCHES IN DIAMETER. THE FLOOR OF THE BALCONY WAS ABOUT 11 FEET, 11 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. THE ROLL OF PLASTIC HAD BEEN DROPPED INADVERTENTLY BY ANOTHER EMPLOYEE WHO WAS TRYING TO WORK TOO FAST. EMPLOYEE #1 SUSTAINED SEVERE NECK INJURIES. BOTH WORKERS HAD BEEN TRAINED FOR THEIR JOBS.
