Construction worker killed in fall through floor opening

Employee #1 and a coworker were working around a 5 foot 3 1/2 inch by 8 foot 3 1/4 inch floor opening when Employee #1 fell through the opening. He was found lying on the first stair landing 30 to 40 feet below. The employees were in the process of removing temporary cross braces in the clock tower at the time of the fatal accident.
