Employee killed when bit on neck by liger

Employee #1 and the owner were moving a liger -- a large cat that is half lion and half tiger -- from one cage to another through an aisleway that was enclosed and separated from the workers. The liger went into the appropriate cage, but before his hind feet were completely in the cage, Employee #1 unfastened the cage door and attempted to close it. The liger spun around, grabbed the employee and bit him in the neck, then dragged him inside the cage. Employee #1 was dead when the rescue squad arrived.
