Investigation Summary
Employee #1 and three other workers were pumping out and shoveling mud and water from a 36 ft vessel called "The Turmoil," which had been raised by a hydraulic mobile truck crane about a half hour earlier. The vessel was supported by three rigging lines (one to bow, two to stern). The vessel broke loose from the two stern attachment points while the men were on board. It rolled portside and sank, except for the section that was still supported by the bowlines. The coworkers were washed overboard and swam safely to shore. Employee #1, however, was sucked up and trapped in the cabin area as the vessel went down. He drowned.
