EMPLOYEE KILLED BY FALLING TREE

Employee #1 was engaged in a tree harvesting operation. Employee #1 was standing approximately 6 feet behind a 50-foot-high, 16.5-inch-wide water oak tree. He had just completed his second cut and backed up when the tree started to fall. The tree split approximately 15 feet up the middle. It sprang up, striking Employee #1 in the neck and upper body, killing him.
