Investigation Summary
At 3:00 p.m. on July 7, 2022, an employee was operating a John Deere Zero-Turn ride-on mower to cut along the edge of a pond. The employee became stuck in the mud at the edge of the pond and asked his coworkers to get a tow strap to pull the mower out. When the coworkers returned from fetching the strap, they found the employee underneath the unpowered mower, with his head partially submerged in water. The employee was killed as a result of drowning.
