Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee had worked as a Registered Nurse for an ambulatory healthcare facility. The employee's last work shift ended at 7:00 am the morning of November 6, 2021. On November 15, 2021, the employee reported to work for routine COVID-19 testing and tested positive. The employee remained off of work in accordance with CDC guidelines for quarantine. In late November, the employer was notified that the employee had been admitted to a hospital for breathing issues. On December 2, 2021, the hospital placed the employee on a ventilator. At 1:00 a.m. on December 6, 2021, the employee died due to acute hypoxic respiratory failure due to acute respiratory distress syndrome related to COVID-19.
