Investigation Summary
An employee, a corrections officer, last worked on November 4, 2021. The following day, the employee called in sick and never returned to the workplace. On November 10, 2021, the employee notified his employer that he had been in close contact with a family member who had tested positive for COVID-19. The employee was admitted to the hospital the following day where he died on November 25, 2021, due to hypoxic respiratory failure resulting from COVID-19 infection.
