Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee was working at a residential facility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities when she was exposed to residents and coworkers who may have been infected with COVID-19. The employee worked her regular shift on November 23, 2021, and was scheduled to be off the next two days. The employee called in on November 26, 2021 and advised that she tested positive for COVID-19. The employer gave her ten days off with pay to quarantine. The unit did not have any other employees report or show signs of COVID-19 in the days before the onset of the employee's symptoms. The employee's symptoms worsened and she died on November 27, 2021, of complications of a COVID-19 infection.
