Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee was transporting residents at a skilled nursing facility. The employee worked alongside a coworker (Transportation Aide) driving residents to doctor appointments. The employee also conducted maintenance work throughout the facility. Several coworkers and residents had tested positive for COVID-19 at the time of the employee's positive test result. On October 13, 2021, the employee started showing COVID-19 related symptoms, so he took a COVID-19 rapid test and the test was positive on the same day. The employee was hospitalized a few days later due to complications related to COVID-19. The employee remained in the hospital until he died at 2:40 p.m. on October 29, 2021. Information regarding engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls for COVID-19 are not included in the narrative.
