Employee with COVID-19 infection dies

An employee was working as an officer at a correctional institution. It was a state prison. His last day at work was August 22, 2021. He was exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, and he was tested. He received a positive result the same day, on August 22. He was admitted to the hospital on August 31. His employer learned of his hospitalization on September 2. At 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021, the employee died of complications related to COVID-19. The employee had experienced respiratory issues related to COVID-19. DOSH was notified at 10:33 a.m. on the next day, Friday, September 17. At 2:10 p.m., a CSHO was assigned the investigation. He arrived at the site at 5:00 p.m. that same day. At :00 a.m. on Monday, September 20, the CSHO revisited the site and met with representatives of the employer.
