Investigation Summary

An employee was a Detention Information Assistant processing administrative functions of intake and release of inmates at a detention facilities for females. The employer was the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. At 7:33 p.m. on July 19, 2021, the employee was hospitalized for treatment for Covid-19. Employer reported the hospitalization to DOSH at 5:15 p.m. on July 20, 2021, which complied with the reporting requirements. DOSH opened an inspection on September 15, 2021. One other employee at the location developed Covid-19 around the time of the hospitalized employee, and the employee may have been exposed in the workplace or outside of the workplace. No accident related citations will be issued.
